Rock

‘This is a rock’

‘But also a chair’

‘It’s a rock’ Peter re-iterated forcefully.

‘But if I sit down and lean against it… what’s the definition of a chair?’

‘Who cares, you are just manipulating words’

‘I am trying to make a point’

‘Okay what’s your point?’

The two friends had been walking for the last three hours from the campsite to the base of the granite spires. The path had levelled out and the rocks grew up around them, huge white faces towered toward the sky and thick green undergrowth surrounded them. Peter had joined reluctantly on his rest day, on the promise of ‘understanding more about life’.

‘Okay, the point is it doesn’t really matter what it is, it depends on what you are taught, how you grow up and the beliefs you hold yourself accountable to.’ Joe smiled to himself inside, that came out pretty clear. He hadn’t had it that clear in his head before.

‘Okay well I was taught that this is a rock’.

‘Great, but that doesn’t mean it’s a rock to everyone’.

‘So it’s a chair then, who cares’

Joe laughed, Peter was tired.

‘Well no-one in fact, that’s the beauty of the world, we can all choose our different rules as long as we appreciate the fact that not everyone is playing the same game.’

Peter looked at Joe, he frowned, had his mate brought him all the way up the mountain to look at a rock and try to explain that people are different.

Joe continued, ‘not care, should actually be care, you care that everyone has a different perspective different set of rules and you will actually get on better with everyone’

It clicked, Peter looked at Joe, ‘Your talking about Emily aren’t you?’

‘Yea… she is just playing by her rules, the only way she knows how, she see the world different from you, she expect different things.’

‘So what I just get hammered all the time and take her shit. What about my rules?’

‘Your not accepting, you’re demanding’

‘Oh Fuck off Joe’

Joe put his arm around his mate, a friendly giggle came out, ‘now you are thinking.’

Peter pushed him away unable to stop himself smiling inside.

‘Nice fucking rock’! He raised his middle finger and continued along the path.

Simple

Once upon a time in a deep and darken land

There was a world full of creatures of plants, seas and sands

Simple was their custom, growth everyday

But just a little little, balance, wind, sun and rain

Season would come and go live and die again

The continuum was simple, refresh with weather friend

But as time did pass the world did go around

Around, around, around she went, spinning up and down

And all those simple creatures their thoughts grew and grew

They forgot about the simple, forgot about the true

Heads grew bigger bigger they could could not hold them all

Their questions needed answers the ‘W’s started to call

Who, What, When and Why Became the masters call

and simple changed her outlook, confusion came to call

‘We must know everything, everything and all,

we must store it here and here open to all.

For if we all think the same our unity complete,

no contrast, no argument no-one can compete.

We will all be the same, be part of a global plan,

one culture, one brotherhood, one….’

And so with that it did grow, material did rise,

melting down nature, turning grey skies.

And with the ‘W’s

he did feed the ants again.

On empty minds he filled them up, filled to the brim

He filled them up, he filled again,

again, again he poured, again, again, again, again,

‘Stop, Stop, Stop No more!’

But now the access into the mind was clear,

a never ending flow, a reminder of natures river.

It rained knowledge and answers to all the questions asked

But holding simple numbers could not now be tasked,

So Mirrors he brought in, mirrors to help them see,

but mirrors only gave reflections of who they were promised to be.

‘I am tired’ they called, but supplements they stored

‘Leave me alone’ they cried, ’Shhhhh, you’ll survive’

Simple was lost and forgotten, simple could not see,

blinded by the lights and stuffed with wants and needs.

The promise of greater things, but left with nothing less

Simple started to look, but found no heartbeat in her chest.

Cos Capitalist did capitalise on capitalistic things and Capitalist did promise, he promised everything.

Free

For it is only, but beyond all calling come mis-representation for featuring films and stories untold behind the hidden agenda.

Control all and keep safe, fear all and suffer, but true meaning finds the soul free of understanding couldn’t be

Be if definitive soul, be all and establish communal words of joined up knowing, be scared of those dark eyes and dangers in new beginnings.

Physical form of justification, fire reasoning and breathe in intoxicating powers of knowledge, but fear the divide and you will never stand still in life’s eternal chaos.

Be free without want, be free.

Seeds

Cracked open with thought and logic

Experimenting with natures profit

Clean thoughts and understanding we look behind masks, new perspective drive forward.

See better in someone else or see them humble you, grace disgraced

See scars on those that you love, cursed by some independent spell

Never fully understood or made to scare, buried deep down

Natures prophet curse the spin, but built inside you clarity win.

But not shared loved, or expressed as we know just a simple feeling bodies glow.

But use it must to give more to all independent is not nature.

Center

Manipulation of the people’s minds, understanding movements, political sides.

Flipped round and persecuted, justified through purpose.

Heartbeat turns stone hit rhythm start flow, clean open, dreams go.

Drop away from underneath seek fire feel heat, drama leads all gone, heartbeat turn stone.

Dragon fire breath home, flipped mind justified only by this time.

I don’t want it

Big breath… closed eyes, pause to let the body relax.

Everywhere he looked he saw reminders of her, reminders of what could have been, contrasting against what he chose. It was almost polar opposite, but then opposites attract. Well that’s what they say.

But he was certain that the attraction was not the right way, the future that he could see with her would only drain him. It would be easy to change for her, easy to fulfil everyone else’s expectations of the perfect marriage, but he just didn’t want it. Even now as the thoughts ran through his head everything was being analysed predicted, driven, persuaded.

He sighed again and tried to place his thoughts back on track. Why was he here and why it was true. He closed his eyes again and rested his head.

It wasn’t long before the dream came back, his body started to sweat and the reminders of the ugliness of the drain, so picture perfect, effortless but evil, filled his thoughts. Kindness and ambition so ugly when stripped back, stripped back to the core, the skeleton of drive. The constant demand for the better, the right, the… fuck it he screamed forcing himself out of the dream…what is real he growled, what is real? He shouted again and again waiting for a change… what is real he sighed to himself… what is real he asked the horizon.

Force

Measured in numbers, in seconds in time, all those we preach to discover new rhyme, but forced to comply with all that we know, forced move forward to stay in the flow.

But time never started it got used to conform, to bring us together to create the true norm, but if we have infinite ticking the clock, why not to move backwards to end this rot.

I taking the bridge no matter the cost, cos time we spend watered will calm what we’ve got.
